How payments and virtual coins work on The Speakesy Club

To ensure a seamless experience for our users and to minimize repeated transactions, The Speakesy Club operates on a Virtual Wallet / Coin System for all internal platform transactions.

Important Note for Payment Partners: The payment gateway is strictly used for one-time Wallet Recharges (buying coins). All subsequent purchases inside the app (memberships, calls) are deducted from the user's pre-paid coin balance without hitting the payment gateway again.

Step 1: Adding Money to Wallet (Payment Gateway)

Before a user can subscribe to a creator or make a call, they must add funds (coins) to their Speakesy Wallet. This is the only step that involves our integrated payment gateway.

  1. The user logs into their Fan Dashboard.
  2. The user navigates to the Wallet section and clicks "Add Money".
  3. The user selects a predefined recharge amount (e.g., ₹500, ₹1000, ₹2500).
  4. The user is redirected to the secure Paytm Payment Gateway checkout page.
  5. Upon successful payment, the equivalent amount of virtual coins is instantly credited to their Speakesy Wallet.

Step 2: Purchasing Creator Services (In-App Coins)

Once the user's wallet is funded, they can seamlessly purchase digital services directly using their coin balance. No external payment gateway is triggered during these actions.

A. Purchasing a Membership

  1. The user visits a creator's profile.
  2. The user selects a membership tier (e.g., Inner Circle).
  3. The system checks the user's wallet balance. If sufficient, the required coins are deducted, and the membership is instantly activated.

B. Paying for 1-on-1 Calls

  1. The user initiates a voice or video call with an available creator.
  2. The platform displays the creator's per-minute coin rate.
  3. As the call progresses, coins are automatically deducted from the user's wallet per minute.
  4. If the wallet balance runs out, the call safely ends.

Summary

By consolidating payments into a wallet-first system, we reduce transaction friction, prevent excessive banking requests for micro-transactions (like pay-per-minute calls), and provide a highly secure environment for our community.
